a table for setting

In one day, we’ve gone from our tiny round table–which we bought as newlyweds–to one that fits our family and our new home.

We’ve been anticipating this sweet table for over a month, and it’s finally here. The big truck actually made it up the mountain through the snow!

The table has 4 tall chairs and a long bench. The bench has been officially claimed by Zia, who centers her tiny bottom right smack in the middle. She looks something like Goldilocks in Papa Bear’s seat.

Excited preparations for this table have been going on for a while–we made new black linen napkins and some wintry horse placemats.

A new Zia mobile takes the place of the last one. (Fall leaves are a little past, but better late than never.)

A sweet new set of red dishes. Yes, they are Coleman camping dishes, and yes, they are part of a matching set complete with red tin cups and red flatware. Yes, they’re from Walmart. I love my red dishes.

You can see our old dishes here. They were a wedding gift from Pottery Barn, and as much as I loved them, they have steadily been chipping and breaking until we finally needed to mismatch them for each of us to have a plate.

We have also finished off enough honey and coconut oil jars to make a nice set of glassware.

I think our new table is so sturdy and pretty. I love the homemade horsey placemats, the camping dishes, the drinking jars, the new Zia mobile.

I love every step of making our new house a home.
