spirited away to the land of enchantment
Or, at least, CRV’d away…
We jumped in the car at 3:30 pm on Tuesday, the little Honda piled high with blankets, snacks, and us- wearing our comfiest clothes- on a whim to go west, young man! David had FINALLY received confirmation that he had been hired on as project manager with a 2-yr contract for a job with AT&T! Woo-hoo! Not only that, but it’s a work from home position…as long as he can keep his sanity with 2 crazy (and noisy) redheads underfoot.
Anyway, we found ourselves in Santa Fe, New Mexico, around 3:30 A.M. yesterday. We pulled into my ever-accommodating in-laws’ drive at that unearthly hour. They greeted us warmly and gave us a very comfy bed. David was asleep within seconds of entering the house…but for Z (and me) it was a different story. SHE wanted to play with Grandma and Grandpa…never mind what time it was! But she finally calmed down, and we all slept like 3 tired babes.
We’ve been sopping up enchiladas, tamales, and of course, sopaipillas. Zia’s been eating WAY too many beans, and as a result, our days our quite musical! She’s been having the time of her life, living it up as a (spoiled) granddaughter, forgetting her mother, and even skipping nummies till afternoon in all the excitement!
As for me, besides devouring the awesome food, I’ve been frolicking in the crisply mild Southwest air, walking for miles through the stickly grasses along coyote fences and adobe walls on the outkirts of town. Simply lovely.
Tomorrow, it’s westward ho once again- toward Colorado, and everything beautiful.
