boulder creek festival
Over Memorial Day weekend, we decided to hit the Boulder Creek Festival. It’s an annual event, and this was our first time.
We started the day with some festival food. Zia and I had Jamba Juice and Island Noodles.
The guys had chicken on a stick and fried rice, which was proclaimed to be “awesome, dude” but I’m sure it wasn’t half as good as the girl fare.
We ate by (and in) the creek.
Zia braved the bouncy slide and tried out a couple of bouncy houses. She loves those things. She once requested her own bouncy house for her birthday.
The bubbles looked like lots of fun. Both Zia and Caleb wanted to try, but the line was way too long. Me? I would have looked like a bubble within a bubble.
This guy was building cairns in the creek. His patience was amazing to watch.
We saw him balance this top rock. It took a long, long, time.
Zia had a blast. She would run to get a macaroni and cheese sample, come back to play, then run for another sample. They don’t care how many samples you take when you’re a redheaded fairy.
And that’s my red-hot guy, smack in the middle of all the blasé ones.
I was invited to the Boulder Ginger Society, which I’m pretty sure is a redhead thing. I hear they have meetings, but how many redhead topics can you go over without the conversation getting a little stale? Hmm. Maybe I should join and find out.
Caleb got a new Australian hat. It’s made of kangaroo skin. He gets a little jumpy when he’s wearing it.
The Rubber Duck Race!
Four of those 7,000 rubber duckies belonged to Zia, Caleb, David and me. Unfortunately, none of ours won $1,000 or a trip to Cancun. Some lucky ducks did, though.
It was fun to watch. Here they are, starting to pile up at the finish line.
At the end of the day, we headed home. And boy, was it good to get away from the crowds and back up on our mountain.
We’ll probably head back next year…you know, just to give the kids another dose of socialization.
Sounds like a blast! Pat has a hat just like Caleb!
You all have such fun outings!
Wow, that looks like so much fun! But I know what you mean about getting back home and away from the crowds. haha! Josh is that way more than I, but we both enjoy our socialization spaced out between lots of home-quiet time.
