A couple of days ago we got a good dumping of snow, maybe a foot or so. Everything was cold and frosty and it felt very much like winter.

But yesterday it warmed up and began to melt, and we all went out in the sunshine. David cut logs, Caleb stacked them, I washed our very dirty car, and Zia played in the snow. Cash did a little of everything (except for the chain saw part).

He started off by drinking a kale smoothie with Mama. If it’s purple, he’ll drink it–if it’s green, he won’t. I always throw in some blueberries for him.

The Before I Washed It picture. Did I take an After one? No, of course not. But that 4Runner looks much better now, believe me.

He was not impressed with my car-washing skills. Or at least, he pretended he wasn’t. (I know better).

So we thought yesterday was the most beautiful day ever–until we got up this morning and headed to Boulder to do our shopping. It was 75 degrees there! We decided the shopping could wait, and went to the park first. Of course, I didn’t bring my camera, but it was doubtless the warmest February day I’ve ever experienced.
I took Cash and Zia to the creek while David and Caleb lay in the sun on the hill. We passed girls sunning themselves in bikinis, guys running shirtless, and more modest people in shorts and tank tops.
We got to the creek and took off our shoes and socks. Cash squished his toes in the mud and threw rocks in the creek while Zia waded and explored the bank. It was exactly like summer–and it’s February.
We finally went back and I had to ask David if we could leave because it was too hot. I was sunburnt and the kids were red and sweaty and needed a drink.
So that was our day, and we might just try to replicate it tomorrow–though it’s supposed to be only in the 60’s. Boo-hoo. 😉
