once there was a little deer

Once there was a little deer.  The deer was full of imagination.  He loved to explore in the wild.  And was very curious.  He also wondered how grizzly bears would survive in the winter.  But one day he met a bear!  He was very frightened but the bear was very nice to him.  He led the little deer to his den.  They ate dinner, then they laid down and fell asleep.  And they lived happily ever after.

Hi there!  I just wanted to post this choker I recently finished.  I created it with a rock pendant, a rawhide neck strap, and a piece of solid copper which I hammered and curved. (And I actually am wearing a shirt here, so don’t even think that I’m not.) 😉

I wrapped the strap and pendant with copper wire to fasten them to the collar bone piece.

Cash and I like to look for cool rocks in Boulder Creek, and we found this one there.  I hammered the copper spiral and attached it to the rock with wire.

I made this hook-and-eye clasp, hammered and textured it, and fastened it to the rawhide strap.

I like how it looks a little wild, raw, and primitive–and I think it looks interesting and pretty with either jeans or dressy attire.  But then, I’m a little different.  What do you think?

This choker can be found in my shop at PocoLeonStudio.

Caleb turned fifteen today!  He had a party here at home yesterday, with all of us and one of his friends, Lauryn.  We had pizza and an ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins.  It’s the first birthday we haven’t made a homemade cake for him.  🙁 Of course, nobody complained.

(I’m not sure what the trouble is here, but it sure wasn’t the cake. Or the pizza.)

We watched some videos from Caleb’s baby and toddler years, which were really cute and funny at first and then a little bit boring.  It made us smile to see a miniature Caleb rolling around and grabbing at things, but after 20 minutes or so, fast forwarding seemed like a good option. 😉  The adults in the videos were more attention-grabbing, especially a pre-Mia David with an army haircut and a New Mexican accent–and the same funny sense of humor. 🙂

Lauryn kept us laughing all day and quickly won Cash’s heart, which I’m sure had nothing to do with the seemingly endless supply of candy and gummy worms that materialized wherever she went.  All we heard for the second half of the day was “Wo-win? Wo-win? Do you have any mo’ gummies fo’ me?”

It was a really fun party, and all the kids had an awesome time–even when Cash had a stinky little something go off in his pants at the table that nearly required us all to don gas masks.

Yesterday our snow was almost melted, but that wasn’t the last of it.  Caleb’s birthday usually brings one of the last snows with it, and this year was no different. (That’s a box of jewelry-making supplies for me, BTW. Yaaaaay!!!)

This morning we woke up once again to a white-coated world, and the snow continued off and on throughout the day.  But snow or no, we have such a good life up here–and birthday parties are just the icing on the cake.

Happy Birthday, Caleb!
