spring at last
Last Friday was so warm we stripped down to tank tops and shorts and got sunburns. It felt so good.
Cash played outside for the first time ever, and he could hardly believe his good fortune. He was all grins.
I was all grins, too. I got to hang my laundry outside!
Zia was a beautiful sight, dancing through the snow in sparkly red flats, filling bottles of snow and gathering sticks, rocks and moss. She made a “campfire”, and thoroughly relished spreading “fire sauce” on it.
Something comes alive inside you at the realization that winter isn’t forever. I lose sight of that sometimes, in all the frozen beauty that surrounds us. Then comes a day like last Friday, and it all comes back. The warmth of the sun on your skin, the smells exploding from the earth, the joy in the kids’ faces. I don’t hate winter, but I sure love spring!
Poor Zia got sick the very next day and has been spending most of her time curled on the couch, watching Peter Pan and sipping Sleepytime tea in her pajamas. It’s been too quiet around here, but I think she’s feeling a little better today.
Although this week brought more snow and cold winds, another winter has finished its course. Happy first day of spring!
Oh how lovely!!
I’ve always said that I’m a winter kind of girl, but every time the air gets a little warmer and the window get opened, I start longing for the warm time outside. I hope Zia is feeling better!
Thanks, Melissa. Slowly but surely her spunk and wit are returning, so I know she’s getting better!
