snapshots of our week
Our week has flown by. In the busyness of taking care of a new baby, homeschooling Zia, and the regular routine of coming down from the mountains on the weekend for groceries, it was great to have a free day–Labor Day! We went to hang out at the creek in Boulder.
There’s nothing as exciting and calming to kids as water is. And it’s such a great place to make new friends.
The Boulder Hometown Festival was going on at the same time, but none of us wanted to leave the creek.
Caleb has been an amazing addition to our family. He goes the 2 miles and back on his motorbike to check the mail every afternoon after school. He helps David chop wood, he washes dishes, and helps me with whatever I need for the baby. Most of all, he’s a brother and a friend to Zia, and she adores him. We love having him in our family.
Just before the weekend, Zia got a haircut. Actually, we all did. It’s been a while, and the dryness here really speeds up those split ends. We found a stylist who came to us–which was awesome, since Cash could stay sleeping while she sheared the overgrown manes.
I had to throw in a picture of my boy. Have I mentioned how much I love having a baby boy? For those of you who don’t have boys, you really should. They’re so sweet and snuggly. (Nothing like the grown-up version.)
Speaking of… š But I wouldn’t have my wild and tough man any different. Might I add that he’s not to tough to carry a flowered diaper bag.
Zia had her very first dance class yesterday. She’s learning tap and ballet.
I asked her how it was. She said it was hard, really hard. But she gave it her best, and she’s catching on quick.
Here’s my latest escapade in baking. These chocolate-dipped coconut macaroons are a favorite of David’s, and it’s about time he got a reward for all he does for me.
I must admit, I sneaked two or three. Maybe four.
Have I mentioned how much I love this life I’ve been given? The kids, the guy, the creek, the coconut macaroons. They’re all so good.
I love your posts and seeing photos of your very sweet family. š
You are lucky and you deserve it all and more! What a wonderful life, indeed!
