seasons change
Happy First of Spring! I think those might be tiny buds on the tree outside our front window. It still looks mostly like winter, but things can change mighty fast around here.
Like a certain girl’s mind. After three months of adjusting to her 2-hour school day and telling me she will be going for full days in second grade, she has suddenly decided she is ready right now.
And I think she’s right.
Today is her first official day of being Not A Home Schooler any more. It’s a very special day, for a lot of reasons.
First of all, of course, today is the First Day of Spring (in exactly 24 minutes). Instead of meandering to school at 1:45 pm, I woke her up at 7 am to get ready and have breakfast. Once we got to school, we didn’t have to sign in and wear the “Visitor” badge.
Today is pajama day, all day(!) and you get to bring a pillow, blanket, or stuffed animal to school. Today is a pizza party at lunchtime. Today is the last day of school before Spring Break.
And of course, for her, today is the first day of going to school all day for the next eleven-and-a-half years–or so she tells me. (I’m not totally convinced.)
But I do know that my girl has snipped one more apron string today, and headed off a little more on her own. For that, I’m both happy and sad. Have a lovely change of seasons, Baby Girl.
It is a huge change of seasons… exciting yet a bit sad all at once. Our babies grow so quickly.
Wishing you a peaceful day.
xoxo
ohhh, this made me all misty eyed. She sure is growing up. Good for her. That shows great spirit. Grab your cuddles while you can Mamma. I dread and look forward to these moments with Panda. Be well.
Thanks, Mercy! She’s a spunky one for sure…I have to steal my cuddles when she’s least expecting it!
