june!
Happy first of June! The kids finished school Thursday…yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
Zia set a goal to learn to ride a bike this summer–the poor thing doesn’t have much ground at home other than cliff faces, so she hasn’t ever really tried. Thursday after she got home I took her to a paved basketball court down the road, and she finally got it!
We spent most of the weekend at parks so she could practice. She’s a pro now.
This (little) boy has been kind of feverish, but he’s getting better.
He’s been sleeping a lot, and being out in the sun has helped.
He got a haircut last week…
and so did I. I didn’t realize Cash switched the settings on my camera so the pictures came out dark, but here are a couple of before-the-haircut pics.
I’m planning to grow my hair out as long as it will go (which has never been very long), but I decided to get a good cut first to take off the ragged ends and make the shape better.
I got this Ouidad cut Saturday at More Than Curly salon in Denver. The Ouidad carve-and-slice technique for curly hair was interesting, and seemed to work well on my hair. They used about seven products on me, which contained lots of chemicals and made my hair less freestyle than I like, but the stylists were good and I like the cut. I washed the products out, finger-styled my hair, and it feels nice and fresh and ready to grow out over the summer.
I’m trying a few things to help stimulate growth–lots of biotin, scalp massaging, onion juice on my roots (pew!) We’ll see if any of it helps. They told me at the salon they have a name for people like me–Naturalistas. Which I would rather be than a Productista. I probably sparked some lively convo there–but they don’t know the half of just how green and crunchy I can be, hehe.
Mimi comes Saturday, and we are all so excited. I teach my first jewelry class later that day, and David leaves Sunday to work in Seattle. The summer is stretching wide before us–and June is going to fly by, I can just tell.
Hi lil Zia – W O W you are flying like the wind !!! :). love u/ grandma 🙂
Hi honeee…I love your hairdo – it looks really soft …. Lil Cashey is getting really big….so happy Mimi will be with u for awhile 🙂 / luv u/ mom

Whoa! Look at her GO, she’s all set that little Zia….LOVE your haircut – I do think it’s the best cut you’ve ever had -really cute!
Thanks! I thought the same thing! 🙂
Beautiful – before and after! Congratulations to your daughter – she looks like she took to bike riding quickly. Good luck with your first jewelry class. I’m sure you’ll be wonderful!
Thank you Susan!
Super cute hair! I’ve been debating getting mine cute. Because all I do at this point is pull it into a ponytail. But then if I cut it I’d actually have to do something with it.
Jennifer,
I know what you mean! Mine is easy to finger style, but on those “dandelion days” (like after getting out of the pool) it’s disconcerting to try to pull your hair back into a clip and find it doesn’t reach. 🙁 Even when I have puffball hair, though, I’m still glad I got it cut. If worse comes to worse, I can always grab a hat, LOL.
