happy mother’s day
One day late…Happy Mother’s Day!
Caleb’s mom came to take him for the weekend, so it was just our little family of three…or four, as Zia always corrects me. “Don’t forget that little person in the belly.” We would never forget that person.
Zia picked this card out for me. (Of course, a certain guy was there to help get her to the store and back and pay for it.)
Somehow, at the beginning of this motherhood thing, I thought that initial thrill of being a mamma would eventually even out, and I’d kind of “get used to it”. Quite honestly, it hasn’t evened out at all. It’s gotten much stronger.
Although having a special day like Mother’s Day is fun, it’s the day after day of having a little person to love and help grow up that I wouldn’t trade for anything. Sometimes I ache inside just to look at her…does that happen to you, too, with your kids?
Having Caleb in our lives has added a whole new dimension to our family. Although I never intend to take his own mother’s place, he is definitely our boy, and I love that my girl is growing up with a big brother just like I did. Soon she’ll be a big sister (since we simply can’t forget about that person in the belly). I’m so glad to have all three of them!
Most of all, though, I’m thankful for the greatest man in my life. He makes every day of my life sweet…not just Mother’s Day.
Happy Mother’s Day, Mia! We are blessed girls to be living such wonderful lives!
