geocaching expedition #2

We headed out looking for another geocache last week.  It was Caleb’s first, so he was pretty stoked.  We used a geocache map that showed landmarks, and it was an easy find.

The container was tiny, with no room for any kind of treasure, so Caleb just signed his and Zia’s names and replaced it.

After that we hunted for another one in the town graveyard, but couldn’t find it.  The kids had a lot of fun running around looking, but there was no sign of the geocache.  We might return sometime with a GPS device and look again.

We did find a lot of ancient gravestones, and it was amazing how many of them were little kids.  So sad.  I can hardly imagine, but it must have been pretty common to have one or more of your children die when they were little.

It reminds me all over again how great it is that I have my kids, every day.  Even when they go running, jumping, and shrieking around me till I feel like I’m on a merry-go-round, it just means they’re happy, healthy, alive and well–and that makes me really happy.
