to kansas city and back
As you have probably noticed, I’ve fallen off the wagon lately when it comes to blogging.
I do have sort of an excuse, though. We had an emergency problem at our rental in Kansas City (the sewer pipe clogged and cracked) so David had to go fix it, and we all piled in the jeep and went along with him.
Aside from the awful stinky work that David found himself neck-deep in, we had a great time. Kansas City was unusually warm, although it rained for a couple of days.
We got to see Grandma Cindy, our good friends Darci and Chase and their kids (including the baby we hadn’t met!), and several other friends. We also got to hang out in the prayer room a bit, which was great.
A trip to KC just wouldn’t be right without chowing down at Oklahoma Joe’s, David’s all-time favorite barbecue joint. (Well, he and Caleb and Zia chowed down. I snuck in a boxed salad from Whole Foods.) If Kansas City is the king of barbecue, Okie Joe’s is the king of Kansas City. (No problem: Whole Foods is the queen of Colorado.)
We ended up staying a week–David finished the job, we packed up the few items we had left at the house, and rolled back home. We’re back now, unpacked and settled, snug and cozy by the fire, surrounded by our winter wonderland.
By the way, sorry there’s no pics. I guess when you’re used to snowy mountains and elk herds, it’s hard to be photographically inspired by dismally gray and rainy suburbs. In retrospect, I should’ve gotten pictures of the sewer trench…but really, would you have wanted to see it that much?
There will be pictures in the next post, I promise. Because…
we’re back in Colorado now.
Yay! Glad you’re home safe. I’m not a fan of BBQ joints either, so I can empathize with your salad-sneaking ways š

Ha! I’ve sneaked quite a few salads in my life!
