papa and mimi’s house
We’re back from an awesome week in NY. It’s been a year since we’ve seen my family, so to them, Zia has grown up just a little.
This is where they live; in a house on a hill with 15 wooded acres and a spring-fed pond. It’s where I grew up, and it was the best place to grow up.
Zia jumped right into the family and made herself at home. They had lots of things for her to do.
Here she is playing with Uncle Kit in the sand. That little wheelbarrow is for her, along with a red wagon, a painting easel,
and this tube. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a private plane, so we left it all. 🙁 (But they also had lots of things she did take home.) By the way, that’s Uncle Kirke taking a nap on the picnic table.
And here’s Papa taking a nap. He likes a little peace and quiet now and then.
Papa’s parents: Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa!
Aunt Sari gave Zia a makeover…with lots of pink lipstick!
Auntie Rae!
This is the first time Zia has met her great-grandmother, Mame (Mimi’s mother). Mame is 84. Aren’t Mimi and her mama lovely? (Not to mention the very cute kid, who, by the way, was cutting some molars and was not very happy.)
4 generations of girls.
So that was our visit. We took a wagon ride each morning and evening, visited the cows every day, watched fairy tale movies, painted pictures, ate ice cream, and baked cookies with Auntie Ramah. We also celebrated both our birthdays (3 weeks ahead of time) with lots of fun presents!
Full of happiness and freshly made memories, we boarded the plane and flew back home to Dadda in Kansas City.
Au revoir, NY!
Cute pictures, we all had a lot of fun with the two red heads!

That sounds and looks so lovely. Sounds like an amazing place to grow up. Such a blessing. I want a clothes line like that.
