almost home
He comes home today, and we’re oh-so-ready. A very excited girl has been counting down the days, letting me know at the crack of dawn each morning exactly how many days are left until the glorious Day of big brother’s return.
We have a very yummy cookies ‘n cream cake ready and waiting, a burlap welcome banner sewn and hung, and a pile of tiny presents.
The presents are made of pipe cleaners, Sculpey clay, paint and paper. There are also a few found presents, a dollar bill, a toy from McDonald’s (gasp. Yes, she has had a Happy Meal or two in her life, courtesy of Dadda.)
“I did a horrible thing.”
“What’s that?”
“I wrapped one of his presents in Tinker Bell wrapping paper.”
Along with all these preparations have been the necessary distractions, or we would all go crazy. She’s been writing grocery lists, painting pictures, taking photos.
In the first two days after I taught her how to use the settings on my camera she took just over 300 pictures. I heard lots of groaning over the blurry ones, then shrieks of joy when she finally got one in focus. Poor Cash must have thought the paparazzi was after him.
And now she’s off to the airport with Dadda to pick up the boy, and when they come home, we’ll party.
Gonna be VERY exciting when Caleb comes home!!! Mimi
