plantin’ time

Whew! After nearly 3 weeks of a blogger’s hiatus, I’m back. With all that’s happened in the past weeks, I’m not even sure where to begin. First things first, I think. On March 17, in a truly green St. Patty’s day celebration, we planted our garden. Potatoes, of course, for the Irish. And then spinach, lettuce, kale, turnips, onions, peas, arugula, and beets (for beet porridge and my latest frothy experiment, Beet Kvass). I also made 3 little herb gardens, planting chives, cilantro, and sage. We seeded everything directly in the ground, then indoors I started a flat of tomatoes and one of peppers.

As always, Zia was a great help. Here she is helping to plant the onions:

 Hold it up…

Sniff it…

Plant it…

 Stomp on it…

Wait for it to grow!

Here’s the main plot: (didn’t she do a great job?)

And here’s the herb patch:

Here’s the old shed David ripped apart with his own bare hands:

And here’s the blueberry-eating celebration at the end. (She wears the masking-tape beard to look like Dadda.)

Aaaghhhh!!! Here’s the latest garden pic!
