going home
So it seems the house we liked has been sold. I know it’s ok–it’s just a house–and really, it must not have been the right house for us anyway. It just wasn’t the right time for us to make an offer. We are still in our lease here, and the pre-approval for our loan is still in process.
Who knows, we may end up renting here another year–if this house, which is on the market till July, doesn’t sell. And that would really be ok. We live in a good, solid house in a beautiful place, and I’m sure not complaining.
On Sunday we went to hear Kat Kerr speak in Golden. She has been taken to heaven on several occasions, and so she lives, talks, and breathes heaven. We’ve seen Kat twice before, and she has a way of putting life down here in perspective.
Just hearing about everything that you are given freely up there makes striving for “stuff” down here seems so pathetic–especially striving for a house and a little patch of ground in light of those very real mansions she talks about. (Kat has a couple of books on Amazon detailing her experiences, and you can also see her on YouTube.)
I want to strive for what matters: eternity. I want my life down here to be given out, used up and poured out for what matters to Him. Not sure what that looks like, but I do know that’s what I want.
Completely changing the subject, David got an awesome promotion last week! It came on the tailwind of his work at Masters–those 2 weeks and 2 days of pure and utter hell.
With the technical problems they were having, he worked 15 or more hours a day (and one straight 32-hour shift!), slept 3-4 hours each night, was sick and had two plugged ears the whole time, and went just a little crazy trying to fix that problem. I guess the folks above him saw his gumption and figured they really wanted to keep him.
So he’s gone from Senior Specialist to Professional Advanced Technical Support, not that that means a thing to me, but it sounds great and it has an extra dollar sign on the end of it, so we’re super thankful. And as always, I’m super thankful to be married to him. 🙂
This week we’re packing–woo-hoo! We’re going to NY to see my family. It’s been over two years, so I am way excited. There have been three babies born to three of us sisters, four brothers have moved away from home (and will all be back to visit while we’re there), and another brother and his fiancee are expecting a baby. We’ll be there ten days, and since there is a wedding, birthday party and baby shower, we’ll get to see lots of people and have a whole lot of fun.
Funny I never looked forward to things like that until I moved to the mountains. It really makes you appreciate the human race, and your own family in particular. (Having kids happens to do the same thing.)
More later!
We are all getting excited about next week! Don’t forget your camera!!
That would be just like me, lol!
It is all about Him.
Hope you have a wonderful trip and visit! Wave when pass over WV!
Wow! Lots of stuff here! Congrats on the promotion and make the most of the trip home.
Like Rahab says we’re all very excited !!! Can’t wait to see you all !!
Mia, I haven’t visited your page in a WHILE…. so funny, it’s all because we are selling and trying to buy a new home!!! I have been soooooo busy! I just started blogging again…. even though I’m in the middle of keeping my home like a museum and leaving within an hours notice with my WHOLE crew for someone to look through my home! We are just moving a few streets over, into a better school zone and larger home! =) Such a tough process and I struggle with the same feelings of how much my home here on earth should matter….? However, I already feel God stretching me and helping me to trust him more because of the process of selling AND buying at the same time! Still don’t know how it’s all gunna work out…. just trusting HIM!
May God be with you guys through looking for a home and may he bring you to something better than you ever have imagined!!!
Cash is growing so big and so CUTE!!!
Have fun in NY…. enjoy your time with family!!!
