first day of school

Today Caleb started school.

After a semester of home school, we decided that public school might just be better for Caleb right now. For everyone in our house, life has shifted dramatically enough in the past year that if we can keep some things the same as before–like Caleb’s basic schedule (and, hey–ours!)–then I think it will help smooth the transition for everyone.

He seems to be fairly happy with the switch, although he was dreading it, until today. He has math, art, P.E., band, reading, language arts, geography, and science. We met most of his 7 teachers yesterday and toured the school. It’s a regular public school, to be sure, but I think it’s not too head-in-the-clouds to hope and pray that it will be a good experience for him. Today it was good, and he came home happy (and starving).

Come to think of it, today was a good day for all of us.
