we’re golden!
Do you love it as much as I do? Because I love love love it!
It feels warm, happy, bright, clean, intimate, and inspiring. It’s just what I wanted.
You thought it was going to be BLUE, you say? Well, so did I. But I think I’ll save blue for another room, another day. There’s nothing blue about this room…except for a few accent pieces.
The mobile is something I made 2 autumns ago when Zia was just a babe. We gathered up some beautiful bits of nature during our daily walks and assembled it into this ever-in-motion creation. It has been a great way to stay connected to the outdoors, even while being stuck indoors on inclement weather/infant/toddler days. Now it graces our golden living room!
Do you love the texture of the walls? Somehow they seem even nicer with this color than they did with the red walls. Adoboish, maybe. (Like that word? I made it up.)
I love the way the walls change depending on the time of day and where in the room you happen to be looking. Sometimes they appear washed out, like a sandy desert (see mobile pic), other times intensly warm and yellowed.
Here’s another very yellow moment! The painting is of Zia’s brother Caleb, who is 9 now. When I painted it, he was just a little guy.
Okay, so maybe the green door isn’t so hot with the color scheme! (But did you notice the cute little redhead? SHE looks great with the green door!)
The inside doors aren’t too bad…and I haven’t even repainted them yet! Their original color is in the same color schema (word?) as the new golden, just lighter.
Wondering, should I paint them white to match the trim, or leave them? What do YOU think???
Our magnificent “stained glass” window! Can you read the encrypted message? (Hint: I did it just after we were married. Of course, its message holds true to this day.)
Please let me know what you think of my living room. If you dig my gold nugget, tell me why. If it reeks egg salad to you, shout it out!
I have been waiting! I LOVE it. It is so inviting and warm. Can I visit! It just calls out relaxation. by the way I love the stained glass.
@Tracy, you and your family can come visit ANYTIME!!! (or by yourself if you need a vacation, hehe)
WOW babels, you did a GREAT job on that! It’s bright and cheery and energized and awesome! I love it. The red was smooth and calming, but this yellow is perfect!
Yeah I was a little stinky (ok A LOT STINKY) about the yolk comments and the egg salad comments but you nailed this one!!! Huge Schmoochies!
Ciao,
Your Lion /:O)
Come on over, Tracy! We’ll put you up right in the living room! Haha
By the way, MOST of the work was done by an awesome New Mexican guy who likes to hang out here…thanks Babe, and don’t worry, I took your egg salad comments with a grain of sea salt!
i love it! The yellow is great, its so light and fresh looking! It looks alot like our living room, we even have the same fan! haha
Haha! We can’t WAIT to get rid of our fan! It’s SO UGLY!!! Hahaha
hey mia!! i do love your kitchen! i’m a bit obsessed with painting walls in my home, and you’re getting me really excited to paint my own house! (when i get one!) we’ve just moved and are waiting for a home. Thanks for the inspiration!
