the denver art museum
Zia and I headed out to the Denver Art museum last weekend. It’s a great, friendly place that really caters to kids, and admission is free on the first Saturday of each month. We stayed for 3 hours…and saw only about a tenth of the museum!
Here’s the real reason we stayed so long: the Egypt play section. Zia loves all things Pharoah, Moses, and Egypt… and was absolutely delighted to find all kinds of dress-up clothes, Egyptian animals, and blow-up palm trees.
The real King Tut was also on exhibit at the museum, and we might eventually go to see him, but honestly, I think this was way more fun.
Make way for Zia of the Nile.
There were a couple of sacred cat fights, but that’s to be expected after 3 hours…when you’re 3.
So sleeeeepy.
She found a nice comfy place to rest before we headed off to the American West section. She also won that fight for the cat, as you can see.
The Cowgirl get-up.
Don’t fall asleep in your buckskin breeches, Trapper lady.
She also got to do some art of her own: a paper Egyptian collar, cowboy boots, and a monkey mask. She got to pull a little backpack filled with crafts, games, and puzzles all around the museum. She also stamped her own postcards with art images from sculptures and paintings.
All in all, it was a great day, and a really great museum. We were swept away.
That is so cool that the museum was so kid friendly. love seeing zia’s smile
