in the shop: horse necklaces
This week I created two horsey new necklaces to add to my shop. Yee-haw!
The first is a wild mustang racing over western plains with mountains in the distance–it might be Colorado or Wyoming, or some other wild and windy place.
The back view. I really love this slice of aspen, and spent quite a while decided what to paint on it. The grain seems especially pronounced and it has a unique shape at the top due to a knot in the wood.
I think the darkened wood accents the horse and adds to the subtle western feel. I also love the play of these colors. Good job, red-headed step-mama.
Horse #2 is a grey Arabian mare on a natural wood background. As a kid, I loved Arabians and practiced drawing them all. day. long. I would make their faces extra dished and their necks extra arched, with their tails plumed high in the air. All that practice is finally coming in handy!
The Arabian has cool blue shadowing and the wood is edged with silver calligraphy ink. Just to add to the equine elegance, it hangs on a delicate platinum plated chain.
I hope each of these horse makes a sweet gift for some horse lover. It makes me happy just to look at their soft, shimmery coats and flowing manes. I’d love to know what you think of them!
Really nice horsies…..and reminds me of all of your many drawings – horse girls/women will love them, especially….nice job!
Hi honeeee…I love the mustang — running so free & happy :). I can’t believe u got the whole horse in the pix 🙂 love your work / Luv u/ mom
Thank you, mothers! 😉
These are lovely. I like brown horses, but the white one seems to glow with life beautifully captured.
Thanks, Mercy!
