happy new year!
Another year has rolled by. Then again, make that shot by. Sometimes I wish time would s l o w d o w n just a little.
These little egg-carton birdies were one of our last projects of the year. I wish I could remember the site I got this idea from (their birds were owls), but anyway, thank you, whoever you are. Zia loved making these. We ended up with a parrot, bluebird, cardinal, chickadee, and robin.
We also snipped out a few snowflakes…from some watercolor paintings Zia did. Add some glue and white glitter…and voila! Enter a little New Year sparkle!
Last but not least, a bowl of snow cream. Yes, like ice cream- only snow cream.
One serving of Snow Cream:
1 cup freshly fallen snow
1 T sweetener (I used agave nectar)
1 T almond milk
1/8 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup blueberries (mine were frozen)
1 T shredded coconut
Mix snow with sweetener, milk, and vanilla, stirring well. Add blueberries and coconut and stir just to combine. Grab a shovel and dig in!
This was another idea, I might add, whose source fails me…but I did adapt it enough to (sort of) make it my own. Quite yummy, tho’ Zia still prefers a dish of plain snow.
Hope you’re having a great beginning to your new year!
P.S. I found my source for these projects! I love this page, so I don’t know how it slipped me. Go here for original instructions on making egg carton birdies and snow cream, as well as the cinnamon ornaments I’ve featured and lots of other great ideas. Enjoy.
