downtown for a day
We went to A Taste of Colorado this weekend. It’s an annual fair type of thing in downtown Denver with vendors, food, and even a midway (which we neatly sidestepped). Zia loves balloons, so she kept her eye out the entire time for a balloon artist…and she wasn’t disappointed.
The balloon she asked for was a purple kitty, which she named Berry. She also bought a purple rose made of feathers. She loves getting her face painted, but a cheek tattoo was almost as good.
We tested our strength on this rope. David – with some help from Zia – got up to 150 lbs, which was up with the best of any guy we watched. (Can you hear the pride in my voice?)
I, on the other hand, couldn’t pull more than a measly 30 lbs. Pathetic, I know.
From the fair, we walked to the Denver Art Museum.
We found a Native American section hidden away upstairs. We had never seen it before, so we spent most of our time there.
A bead table with numbered designs to follow. It was strangely relaxing…and a bit addictive!
These artists are making a huge storyteller doll right on the premises. It was really cool to watch them at work.
Native tiles, made to sell to tourists. The inks are all browns and black.
We even got to do some tile art ourselves
until Zia tipped the water and washed everyone out. Fun times.
that looks like so much fun!! I think 30 pounds is nothing to sneeze at 🙂 plus, you didn’t have Zia helping you. 🙂
Mama, Kit and me the pics. Very cool!!
