outdoors with the goats
While parts of the country are hunkering down for record-breaking blizzards, we in the Colorado Rockies enjoyed a balmy 55-degree afternoon. Up here, that’s almost a hot summer day. At one point today I actually stripped down to bare feet and a sleeveless shirt. Oh, and jeans, too. David didn’t go quite that far, as you can see.
I feel for the folks in New York City, and elsewhere in the northeast. We’ve had our share of snow, and we’ll be having lots more of it, probably into May. The rich have their ice in the summer, and the poor get theirs in the winter, as Almanzo Wilder said. That’s totally of out of context, but I guess that makes us rich, hehee.
Before it warmed up, I made a couple of little coats for Pippa from my old hoodies. With so much of her fur shorn for her Caesarian incision, she gets cold really fast. Covering her with a coat seemed to help, and we also keep a heat lamp on her in the shed.
Having the goats has been really great so far. The (human) kids are happier to get outside and play, and so am I. Just since we’ve had the goats my shoulder has been feeling so much better. It’s so good to have a change from our normal routine, and to start a new routine–which involves being outdoors and taking care of furry little creatures.
I’m not sure how long this awesome weather will last, but we’re soaking it up as long as it’s here. It feels like a tiny glimpse of spring, months in advance.
I hope you’re staying warm, wherever you live!
Hi honeeee…. I LOVE these pix 🙂 🙂 🙂 Luv u/ mom
Did you ever think you would see your boy cuddling a baby goat? 🙂
Ahem! Cuddling??? Hardly cuddling. I’m showing this little billy how to be a Big Billy! (and making his mammas very nervous in the process) /:O)
Oh…sorry. I should have known–you look so rough-and-tumble there, rocking back and forth, chucking him under the chin, legs crossed. Dare I mention those little cooing sounds you were making in his ear? 😉
Looks like a little goat farm!
