Chili Pepper kitchen

Last night we painted the town red.  Oh, I mean we painted the kitchen red.  For me, it was just as much fun as a wild night out.  David isn’t quite as obsessed with painting as I am, poor guy, but he stuck with it and worked right alongside me.

We used Benjamin Moore Chili Pepper 2004-20.  It’s a warm, sweet red, and it seems to constantly fluctuate depending on the time of day. It probably changes depending on my mood, too.  Sometimes it looks cherry red, sometimes watermelon, sometimes deep papaya, raspberry, or lime green.  Well, maybe not lime green.  But it definitely looks slurp-able.

This is the color it used to be–medium light bluish grayish.

We have a lot of different pieces of red throughout the kitchen, dining room, and living room (our couches and dishware are red), and having a red wall really ties them all together. We also have a red washer and dryer, which are through the laundry room door above.

Painting the kitchen really helped make the house feel like our own.  And it’s much more cozy than when it was blue.

Next up: Dragon’s Breath doors.

We have two painted inside/outside doors; the rest are wooden. The painted doors were a burgundy color, which I wasn’t crazy about.  They would have clashed with the red kitchen, anyway.

We painted them Benjamin Moore Dragon’s Breath 1547, which I fell in love with after I ran across this photo.

Inside, it looks like a dark gunmetal gray, but outdoors it has a bit of a dragon-y green cast.  Zia adores it.

We’re nice and snug in our chili pepper-fire breathing dragon-painted home.  And now, it’s raining again.

Oh love that color!!! I have a red dining room. It’s called drumbeat red, if I remember correctly. It was the first room we painted in our house.

There is just something so warm and inviting about red rooms (we have a few of our own as well). The red really plays beautifully with your wood. Be well, stay dry , warm, and cozy 🙂

All of it is so nice,Doll and the paints make the house look more at “home” with itself – it has the same atmosphere as the little “fur family” house (the book)!
